Thailand is regarded the most attractive investment site in petrochemical industry

Indorama Group, a petrochemical multi national company views Thailand as the most attractive site for investment and wishes to use Thailand as its major production base.

Mr Sathaporn Kawitanon, the Chairman of Indorama Petrochamical Co., Ltd and the Chief Executive Officer of Indorama Venture Public Company Limited, Mr SP Lohia, visited Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva at Government House. Mr SP Lohia clarified that the Indorama Group basically had several branches in Europe, Asia and United State, but he said the company selected to register in Thai stock market and set the main production base in Thailand following the country's capacity and policy for investment. The company Chairman indicated that Thailand has good potential as the production base in the petrochemical industry.

The management of Indorama Group answered the Prime Minister's question about the situation of the Group which was located in Map Ta Phut that it was under the process of formulating environmental measures. The measure would be used as soon as possible and that would not affect the company’s operation. Mr Abhisit was appreciative of the company’s direction and was thankful for its investment in Thailand which was continuously expanding and complying with the country’s regulations.

The Indorama Group originated in Indonesia as the largest integrated polyester chain producers in the world. The company has maintained its operation in Thailand since 1994 with an increased turnover each year. The company has recently registered in the Thai stock market.
