Commerce Ministry to adopt a new strategy as an economic partner with Egypt

The Commerce Ministry will adopt Thailand-Egypt trade strategy with an emphasis on becoming economic partners and conducting a joint marketing in a third country, instead of trading only.

Export Promotion Department (DEP) Director-General Srirat Rattapana stated after a discussion with the Egyptian executives of the Ministry of Trade and Industry and related agencies. DEP would adjust Thailand's trading strategy with Egypt, by emphasizing on being trade partner and set Egypt as export base of Thai products to penetrate Africa, Middle East and the United States. Ms Srirat said that Egypt was suitable as the center in bilateral trade expansion. The Thai private sector would be pushed to invest and cooperate in businesses with Egyptian. She added that service business especially the entertainment industry had great opportunity to access markets in Egypt.

To move forward this strategy, Ms Srirat indicated that the DEP would discuss with Thai exporters and bring them to meet with Egyptian entrepreneurs, also to bring Egyptian investors to Thailand for the business meeting. The government would be proposed to support such a strategy.
