Unhiddenness

A Debut Presentation of the Ordinary in the Everyday Through Unusual Perspectives

Singapore, 9 April 2010 – Bangkok University Gallery and 2902 Gallery with support from The Royal Photographic Society of Thailand under The Royal Patronage of H.M. The King is proud to present Unhiddenness by Police Captain Surat Osathanugrah at 2902 Gallery from Tuesday 18 May to Saturday 5 June 2010. Guest-of-Honour Thai Ambassador Nopadol Gunavibool will grace the event.

Curated by Ark Fongsmut, a curator at Bangkok University Gallery, a majority of this collection of black and white photography exhibition of works will see its inaugural exhibition at 2902 Gallery. The spirit of black and white photography lives on where it serves and remains its significant role in the world of contemporary art where the creative process constantly follows the development in technology.

“Unhiddenness” is set to unveil Osathanugrah’s achievement as a contemporary photographer. Focusing on the theme of objects, “Unhiddenness” differentiates itself from previous exhibitions, which centered on common themes of people and pets. To avoid repetition, Fongsmut deliberately chose ordinary objects as subject matters because they are often neglected and usually considered socially irrelevant, which may eventually disappear. Fongsmut's intention is to highlight the concept of the unnoticeable through unusual perspectives in the photos to depict a story that has no relation to a place and time.
