3. Assoc. Prof. Bruce Lockhart, Deputy Head, Department of History, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, NUS
Abstracts: The panelists will share their insights into King Chulalongkorn’s 1871 visit to Singapore, the first foreign country visited by a Thai monarch, and His subsequent trips to the city state, which had contributed to administrative reforms and modernization of Siam during His long reign from 1868 to 1910 and had served as a foundation for the friendly relations between Thailand and Singapore.
