Chiang Mai to Host Two-Month Golf Festival 2011

The northern province of Chiang Mai is to hold a two-month festival of golf designed to broaden the tourism appeal of this culturally-rich region and showcase the extraordinary range of emerging new products and services available for upmarket visitors.

The festival will take place on 1 May-30 June 2011. The grand opening ceremony will be held on May 1, at the Alpine Golf Club and Resort. Throughout the two-month period, golf lovers will be able to avail of a range of special offers and events, such as:

* The lowest offer green fee of the year which will be fixed at 800 baht at all major golf courses in Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, and Lamphun during 1 May-30 June 2011. (Conditions will apply.)

* Invitation to apply to compete in organized tournaments every Saturday and Sunday for only 1,000 baht, inclusive of green fees, gift give-away, dinner and lucky draw. (Shot Gun Start 12:30 pm.) Players scoring a hole in one at a designated hole can win a special “prize of the festival.”

ML. Pannada Disakul, Governor of Chiang Mai, said the tourism strategy is aimed at positioning the province as a new golf destination.
