Thailand won two top awards at the World RoboCup 2010 competition,held at Suntec Convention Center, Singapore,from 19 to 4 June 2010.King Mongkut University of Technology North Bangkok (KMUTNB), one of Thailand's prestigious engineering schools, won the first place in the Rescue Robot League, the title which has been gained by teams of university students from Thailand for five consecutive years. Another Thai squad from Kasetsart University (KU) has also earned, for two years in running, the top rank in the Robot Soccer's Small Size League by beating a team from USA 6-1 in the final.
About 500 teams from leading educational institutions of over 40 countrie including world-renowned robotics pioneers like USA, Germany, Japan and Korea took part in the event.
As a gesture of congratulations on their success, the Royal Thai Embassy represented by Ambassador Nopadol Gunavibool, Mr.Monchai Phatchanee, Minister and Deputy Chief of Mission, Mr.Nipon Petchpornprapas,Minister Counsellor and Head of Chancery and officials of the Embassy, on 25 June 2010 hosted a dinner at A- Roy (delicious) Thai Restaurant at Funan, The IT Mall in honor of the winning KMUTNB team, which led by Asst. Prof. Chaichai Sermpongpan, Deputy
Dean ofKMTUNB Faculty of Engineering.
