Thailand Condo Expo 2009
On Friday 23 October 2009, from 11.00 a.m. to 12.30 p.m., Ambassador Nopadol Gunavibool, accompanied by Mrs. Anchulee Gunavibool and Ms. Yanee Srimeechai, Counsellor and Acting of Thai Trade Centre, Singapore, officaited the opening of Thailand Condo Expo 2009 at Suntec International Convention and Exhibition Centre, Singapore.
The event was organized by the Thai Condominium Association and Century 21 Realty Affiliates (Thailand), which were represented by Mr. Atip Bijanonda, President of the Association and Mr.Kitisak Jampathipphong, CEO of Century 21 (Thailand). It was hoped that it would help pave way for new market expansion and promote more investment in properties in Thailand.
This was the first time project developers of properties in Bangkok and other popular cities for Singaporeans and expats in Singapore presented their products in Singapore. The properties showcased were some 50 downtown and holiday-destination condominiums, as well as resort-style residential projects.
According to Mr. Atip, Singaporean consumers are considered to have strong purchasing power thanks to their high income per capita. Moreover, Singaporeans also prefer to invest in properties that would give long term yields, whether in the form of rent or gain from investment. In the past, condominiums in Thailand have been well received by the Singaporean consumers, partly due to its convenient geographical location, which is only a short distant away from Singapore, and partly due to the vast similarity between Singapore and Thailand. In addition, while Thailand is an important shopping and travel destination, the condominium price in Thailand is comparatively much cheaper than that of Singapore.
