Thailand at NATAS Holidays 2009 Travel Fair
On Friday 28 August 2009, Ambassador Nopadol Gunavibool attended the opening of National Association of Travel Agents Singapore (NATAS) Holidays 2009 Travel Fair and paid a visit to the Thai Pavillion.
This year, Thailand's travel industry was represented by representatives of 22 hotels, resorts and other tourist attrations at the Thai Pavillion, which was probably the second largest of the national tourism pavillions participating at the NATAS Travel Fair. The focus of Thailand's promotion was on the northern and southern regions, particularly Phuket, Samui and Krabi. With the forthcoming resumption of direct flights from Singapore to Krabi (4 time per week), operated by Tiger Airways, Singaporean visitors will enjoy the convenience and time saving in spending their holidays in Krabi and the surronunding areas.
In addition to providing the Thai Pavillion for the Thai exhibitors, the Tourism Authority of Thailand also brought a dance troupe to perform at Central Stage 3 times daily and Thai traditional message for those who wish to experience it.
The National Association of Travel Agents Singapore or NATAS in short represents the travel agency community that commands 80% of the total market share. In its membership, there are also Associate members such as Hotels, National Tourism Organisations (NTO), Airlines, Attractions and many others. NATAS members are required to subscribe to a strict Code of Conduct and Business Practices. Each year, NATAS organize two major travel fairs, one in January and the other in August, to introduce to the public its members' latest products and service as well as latest trends and destinations in travel.
