Capacity Building Programme: Thai Spa Business Matching 13 July, 2010 at Singapore Business Federation

Mr. Andrew Jacka, President, Thai Spa Association
Ms. Nancy Lim, President Singapore Spa Association
Mr. Ken Chang, Deputy Chair, Mandarin Committee, Singapore Spa & Wellness Association
Distinguished Guests, Ladies and Gentlemen,
Good Afternoon,

1. I am pleased to be here at the opening of Capacity Building Programme: Thai Spa Business Matching where Singaporean entrepreneurs can meet with representatives from 15 Thai spa small and medium companies to learn more on Thai spa products and services.

2. Thai spa and traditional Thai massage are very famous in Singapore and worldwide, proving that its products and services have potential to showcase in regional and international market. Thai spas really do have the key ingredients for a successful spa: the quality and variety of the services and products being offered, the price range, the friendliness and competence of the staff, design, atmosphere and ambience, and cleanliness. Nowhere else in the region will you find such a perfect variety blended in Western leisure concepts and traditional Asian well-being therapies.

3. Thai aroma massage is a fabulous blend of East and West techniques: Thai-style deep massage with yoga stretching is combined with sophisticated western-style Swedish massage. This type of massage soothes your body and encourages a peaceful mind. Moreover, Thai Spa basic product line is made from Thai and Asian local based ingredient, mostly from using natural ingredient. The unique Thai aromatherapy product range consists of blends that are well-guarded secret long held by our ancestors.

4. As the Thai spa concept is taking root worldwide, an increase in demand for Thai herbal products is expected. With "Thai-ness" and Thai herbs being the core ingredients of the Thai-style spa, this is an area that supports cross-sector linkages. Herbal products and herbal teas, food supplements, cosmetics and beauty products are slated to be the key components with high potential on the world market.

5. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you Thai Spa Association, in the support of Office of SMEs Promotion, Thailand (OSMEP) to organize this event. I believe that the Business Matching today is a great opportunity for all in order to meet, learn and understand more on Thai products, services, and consultation as well as spa education and exchange the contacts for the future business.

6. In closing, I wish you all a successful and fruitful meeting. Thank you.
