TAT Roadshow to Promote Gateways to Thailand

On Thursday 22 April 2010 from 4.00 to 5.30 p.m., Ambassador Nopadol Gunavibool was Guest of Honour at the Amazing Thailand Roadshow 2010 at Suntec Exhibition Centre.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand organized this event to provide a platform for some 40 hotels, resorts and other tourism agencies to match with some 50 travel agencies in Singapore.

In his speech, Ambassador Nopadol emphasized the “value for money” of Thailand as a tourist destination only 2 hours away. He assured all the representatives from the travel agencies that in spite of the street protest in Bangkok and the clash on 10 April, which resulted in casualties and injuries, Bangkok remained a place that welcomes foreign visitors. At the same time, Thailand is a big country with thousands of tourist attractions and places to stay and there are gateways that have direct air link with Singapore, namely Phuket, Krabi, Samui, Hat Yai and Chiengmai.

The travel agencies’ representatives were shown a new video prepared by the TAT and were introduced to Thailand’s new tourism products prior to meeting with the representatives of Thai tourism industry.
