On Tuesday 25 August 2009 from12.30 p.m. to 2.00 p.m., members of the Executive Committee of Singapore Manufacturer’s Federation (SMa) led by Mr. Renny A.K. Yeo, President of SMa, had a working lunch with the Ambassador Nopadol Gunavibool at the Ambassador’s residence. Present were Mr.Marut Jitpatima, Minister, Mrs. Kanyarat Vonskul, Minister Counsellor of the Office of Commercial Affairs, Mr. Bandit Rojanavongse, General Manager of Siam Commercial Bank Pcl, Singapore Branch, Miss Nuannapha Wongthawatchai, General Manager of Krung Thai Bank, Pcl, Singapore Branch and Mrs. Chitrachawee Aroonrunglert, First Secretary.
During the working lunch, Ambassador Nopadol exchanged views with his SMa guests on the current positive economic development in both countries. He also briefed them about political and economic situation in Thailand, which had been stabilized under the present government. Both sides also discussed potential trade and investment cooperation between Thailand and Singapore. One of the areas of cooperation, which was proposed by the Ambassador, was to have joint research and production on assistive & rehabilitation technology for disabled persons. This initiative was inspired by HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn's interest in helping the disabled during her attendance of the 3rd International Convention on Rehabilitation Engineering & Assistive Technology (I-Create) on 22 – 26 April 2009 in Singapore as Guest of Honour. In addition, the Sma guests were interested in becoming members of “Friends of Thailand” (which can be applied through Embassy’s internet website www.thaiembassy.sg) and in receiving the Embassy's E-Newsletter, which is issued monthly containing update information relating to Thailand.
