Royal Thai Navy Cadet Training Unit Visited Singapore
On Friday 29 April 2011 from 1.00 p.m. to 1.30 p.m., Rear Admiral Teerapong Srisuwan, Commander, Royal Thai Navy (RTN) Cadet Training Unit, accompanied by Capt. Sutheepong Keowtup, Acting Defene Attache, Royal Thai Embassy; Capt. Aniruth Sawasdee, Commander of H.T.M.S Taksin; and Capt. Ed Youwananggoon, Commander, H.T.M.S. Saiburi, paid courtesy call on Ambassador Nopadol Gunavibool at the Royal Thai Embassy.
Having welcome the Commander of the RTN Cadet Training Unit, Ambassador Nopadol informed them about the close ties of friendship and cooperation between Thailand and Singapore, which is strengthened by the constant exchanges of visits by officials from both sides. He also pointed out the importance of Singapore as transit point for sea travels from Siam (former name of Thailand) to the outside world ever since the time of the beginning of commercial navigation between Asia and other continents.
The Commander of the Royal Thai Navy Cadet Training Unit briefed the Ambassador about the itinerary andx activities of the cadets during this training trip from 28 March to 10 May, with Singapore as the final foreign port the Royal Thai Navy Cadet Training Unit stops on its way back to Thailand. Before arriving in Singapore, the Unit had visited Sri Lanka and Indonesia.
Rear Admiral Teerapong Srisuwan presented the Ambassador with a momento before taking leave for the courtesy call on the Commander of Training of the Republic of Singapore Navy.
The Royal Thai Navy Cadet Training Unit, which comprised 350 cadets, was in Singapore from 29 April to 2 May 2011.
