On Tuesday 29 September 2009 from 10.15 to 11.45 a.m., Ambassador Nopadol Gunavibool was invited to grace the opening ceremony and give an opening remarks at the “Made in Thailand – Mini Exhibition and Business Matching” organized by the Office of Commercial Affairs of the Royal Thai Embassy at Fullerton Hotel. Mr.Marut Jitpratima, Minister and Deputy Chief of Mission,  Mrs. Kanyarat Vongskul, Minister Counsellor and Ms. Yanee Srimeechai, Counsellor, Office of Commercial Affairs, and other members of Team Thailand in Singapore also attended the event.

This 2-day event provided a platform for business matching and showcased hundreds of Thai products, e.g. toiletries for household, school, spa and hotel; cosmetics; clothing; lingerie; shoes, handbags, school and hospital uniforms, etc., manufactured by various companies under I.C.C International Public Co., Ltd., a well-known and successful Thai company.

Mr. Boonkiet Chokwatana, President and CEO of I.C.C International Public Co., Ltd., gave an introductory remarks to the participants by thanking the Royal Thai Government, particularly the Royal Thai Embassy in supporting the organization of this event.

Ambassador Nopadol, in his opening remarks, said that the relations between Thailand and Singapore are very warm and close. They are fellow ASEAN member countries and are strategic partners and complement each other in many ways. Close collaboration will only bring win-win results. He pointed out that it has always been the Government’s policy to help, support and encourage Thai manufacturers to gain foothold abroad especially in neighbouring countries in Southeast Asia. He also expressed his confidence in the quality of I.C.C. International's products as they have been in Thai market for half a century and many of them have become popular and sought after among Thai consumers. He hoped that the Singaporean businessmen would be introduced to these Thai “value for money” products and consequently import them to Singapore, which would be beneficial for Singaporean consumers.

After the opening ceremony, Mr. Boonkiet ushered Ambassador to the exhibition area to take a tour of various booths of “Made in Thailand” products, and hosted a luncheon for the Ambassador and members of Team Thailand.
