On Monday 28 September 2009, from 11.45 a.m. to 1.45 p.m., the Singapore Institute of International Affairs (SIIA) organised a Lunch Dialogue with Minister of Finance of Thailand, Mr. Korn Chatikavanij, at St.Regis Hotel. The main sponsor of the event was Credit Suisse Bank (CSB), with the support from the Royal Thai Embassy, Singapore. Mr. Nopadol Gunavibool, Ambassador of Thailand to Singapore, Mr. Trairak Tengtrirat, Adviser to Minister of Finance, Mr. Sirot Setabandhu, Secretary to Minister of Finance and Dr. Tanya Laohathai, First Secretary of the Royal Thai Embassy were also present.
Invited guests from trade, investment, finance and banking sectors included Mr. Jose Isidro (Lito) N. The Lunch Dialogue started with welcoming remarks by Associate Professor Simon Tay, Chairman of SIIA, followed by remarks on the Thai economy and highlight of current economic policies by Finance Minister Korn Chatikavanij. Guests were then invited to participate in a lively and candid questions-and-answers session throughout the lunch. Topics under discussion covered not only political and economic developments of Thailand, but also developments and cooperation in ASEAN and APEC as well as the role of ASEAN in the G-20 Pittsburgh Summit 2009."
