On Sunday 8 January 2012 from 11.00 a.m. to 2.00 p.m., members of Team Thailand in Singapore, led by Mr. Nipon Petchpornprapas, Charge d’Affaires a.i., took part in the Lunar New Year 2012 Celebration, organized by the Management Committee of Wat Ananda Metyarama. Miss Indranee Thurai Rajah, MP for Tanjong Pagar GRC, was the Guest of Honour of the event, which was attended by about 200 Buddhist devotees, both Singaporean and Thai, and members of the local community, including a number of senior citizens.

The event’s programme included delivery of the opening address by the Venerable Phramaha Rian Manone - Yang, Honorable Secretary of Wat Ananda Metyarama, and Lunar New Year well-wishing remarks by Miss Indranee Thurai Rajah, followed by presentation of plaques to individuals who have rendered support to Wat Anand Metayarama, and cultural performances and a lunch reception. At the end of the programme. there was a presentation of “Ang Pao” and basic necessities to the elderly as a token of Wat Ananda Metyarama’s well wishes to them on the Chinese New Year.
