Donation for Flood Relief in Thailand by a Jackpot Winner
On Friday 25 November 2011 from 7.00 – 9.00 p.m., Ambassador Nopadol Gunavibool and Mr. Nipon Petchpornprapas, Minister Counsellor, received a donation in the amount of SGD 10,000 from a benevolent Singaporean to help flood victims in Thailand. Ms. Choo Hong Eng presented the SGD 10,000 cheque to the Ambassador during a specially organized dinner at the Singapore Buddhist Lodge in Kim Yam Road. Ms. Tin Pei Ping, Member of Parliament, Marine Parade, was the Guest of Honor of the event, which was attended by about 200 representatives from the Singapore Buddhist Federation, led by its Chairman, the Venerable Sik Kwang Sheng, as well as leaders of various charitable organizations.
Ambassador Nopadol expressed his deep appreciation, on behalf of the Thai Government and people, to Ms Choo for her generous donation, which will be presented to the Thai Red Cross Society for use in the flood relief efforts in Thailand. Ms. Choo won a Jackpot while playing a slot machine at Marina Bay Sands on 18 October 2011. Aside from making donation to alleviate floods in Thailand, she presented donation cheques to another 25 charitable organizations and causes at the same event.
