Ambassador presided over the opening ceremony of 1st Singha U Star Charity Shield Football match between Singha U Star Team from Thailand and Balestier Khalsac of S-League Singapore

On 30 January 2012 at 18.00 hours, H.E. Mr. Marut  Jitpatima, Ambassador of Thailand to Singapore presided over the opening ceremony of 1st Singha U Star Charity Shield Football match between Singha U Star Team from Thailand and Balestier Khalsac of S-League Singapore. The event was warmly attended by officers from the Royal Thai Embassy, Team Thailand, Thai community in Singapore and Singaporean.

In his speech, Ambassador Marut congratulated Singha Corporation for organizing the event to raise funds for various schools in Thailand, which have been damaged by the recent devastating floods. While the Royal Thai Government has been extending all possible assistance to alleviate the plights of flood victims, this initiative by Singha Corporation to assist schools affected by the floods, helps supplement the government’s flood relief efforts and deserves high praise. Ambassador Marut also thanked team members and staff of Balestier Khalsac and players of Singha U Star Team, consisting of a number of well-known Thai movie stars and singers. He also thanked Friends of Thai Labour Association for their invaluable support which helps make this event, which does not only have a charitable cause, but effectively brings closer Thai community in Singapore.
